In October, five dedicated colleagues from our Harrogate and Skipton offices took part in a rewarding corporate volunteering day at the Leeds South and East Foodbank. This initiative not only allowed our team to give back to the community but also provided valuable insights into the vital work being done to combat food insecurity in the region.
Founded in October 2013, the Leeds South and East Foodbank has grown from a single distribution centre to an impressive network of ten centres across South and East Leeds, along with a main warehouse and office. The foodbank operates on the belief that no one in Leeds should have to face hunger. Their mission is to provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local individuals and families in crisis, ensuring that help is available when it is needed most.
During their time at the foodbank, our team worked incredibly hard, sorting an impressive 1,800 kg of stock—equivalent to approximately 4,300 meals. In addition to their efforts, the team also brought along donations, further contributing to the foodbank's mission of supporting those in need.
A representative from the foodbank expressed their appreciation, stating, "We are thrilled to offer this corporate volunteering day at our warehouse and believe it is a terrific opportunity for Marsh Commercial employees to support a food bank in their local community and understand more about how a food bank works."
This experience not only highlighted the importance of community support but also reinforced our commitment to making a positive impact in the areas we serve. We are proud of our colleagues for their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Leeds South and East Foodbank in the future. Together, we can help ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
